Dr. Fredrick Mzee Mwazighe successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis titled 'Sensitive Electrochemical Detection Platforms for Anthracene and Pyrene', at the Institute of Chemistry, of the Chemnitz University of Technology on September 29, 2020. He was awarded a Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat) in Physical Chemistry.
Dr. Simon Mbugua successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis and graduated in December 2020 with a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Nairobi.

Dr. Rachael Njogu has been involved in the Science Exchange program at Lund University, Sweden supported by the International Science Programme (ISP) based in Uppsala University through KEN 01 Inorganic Research Group. This enabled her to carry out Ph.D. research work at the Department of Chemistry, Lund University between September 2014 - August 2015 and December 2016 - September 2017. Dr. Njogu worked on Coordination and Organometallic Chemistry, organic synthesis, cyclometallation, cross-coupling reactions, and photocatalysis.
The Department of Chemistry wishes to announce that they are now producing organic Eucalyptus globulus oil which is an effective therapy for respiratory infections including Covid19. Eucalyptus oil is also very helpful in providing relief for headaches , fevers , migraines, asthma, sinusitis, arthritis and ailments of the respiratory tract.

Even though there is wide recognition of the harmful effects of lead and many countries have taken action, exposure to lead, particularly in childhood, remains of key concern to health care providers and public health officials worldwide.
An important source of lead exposure, particularly in children, is paint containing high levels of lead.
