UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY ASSOCIATION OFFICIAL HANDING OVER CEREMONY, FRIDAY 10TH DECEMBER 2021

University of Nairobi Industrial Chemistry Association(UNICSA) is a student body that was established in 2007  mandated to harness full potential of members through involvement and engagement in activities that enhance  academic excellence and quality of life by organizing frequent fora, exchange programs and community outreach programmes aimed at equipping members with diverse knowledge in all aspects of life guided by the motto ”creativity is the crest of science”. Currently, it has a membership of 100 students excluding alumni and the constitution allows co-opting interested parties.

Inline with their constitution, every year they conduct election to choose new leaders to steer a head the organization and early this month, they exercised their democratic rights to choose their leaders.

 

On Friday,UNICSA members had an official handing over ceremony which was done at the Millennium Hall One where all members were in attendance.

In his remarks, the Guest of honor Prof. David Kariuki, Chairman, Department of Chemistry, urged all UNICSA members to recruit more members to the organization for them to realize their vision which is 'To be an internationally recognized student body with an enabling environment conducive for assured excellence in academics, socio-economic and leadership aspects with a view to enhancing competence in service delivery that meets the changing demands in our contemporary society'. 

 

The industrial visits is one of the major event organized by  UNICSA and this has made it possible to have industrial linkages, many students have been employed in various industries as well as industrial attachments and internship opportunities. This body has brought not only Industrial Chemistry students together but also other students from other Chemistry Disciplines.

Other activities conducted by UNICSA are community Outreach i.e visiting children's Home, partnering with the Chandaria industry in recycling waste papers especially waste collected in Chiromo campus.

 

The newly elected officials promised to steer the organization ahead by working closely with the Department in order to achieve the goals.
