The International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week of Action 23rd to 28th October 2023

Lead exposure was identified as one of the major emerging policy issues during the second International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM) in 2009. The ICCM launched the Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead in Paint (GAELP) as a voluntary initiative under the leadership of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNEP in order to protect human health and the environment. The International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (IPPWA) was launched in 2011 and it takes place in the last week of October since 2013.

MENTORSHIP ON CAREER MAPPING AND PREPAREDNESS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY ON OCTOBER 13, 2023

The Department of Chemistry held a mentorship seminar on October 13, 2023, for third- and fourth-year students on Career Mapping and Preparedness. The event was facilitated by Mr. Edison Mochiemo, of KCB, and Mr. Livingstone Makori, of Corporate Career Academy. This was one in a series of events organized by the department meant to equip the students with soft skills required in the job market.

TRAINING OF STUDENTS ON PUBLIC SPEAKING BY AFRICAN CENTER OF PUBLIC SPEAKING(ACPS)

The Department of Chemistry through KEN-01 project organized training on public speaking from Wednesday October 4 2023 to Friday October 6 2023 for selected students who recently graduated from the Department. This training need was identified during the breakfast meeting held in May 17 2023 for female students organized by the Inorganic Research Group(KEN01) project.This training was sponsored by Denis Foundation and KEN-01 project.
