Organic Chemistry

The organic chemistry thematic section at the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi comprises of the following 13 members:

12. Dr. Martin Mbugua
13. Dr. Beth Ndunda

All members of the organic chemistry section are PhD holders and teach courses in mainstream organic chemistry and conduct research in the following areas of applied organic chemistry:

1. Natural products medicinal chemistry
2. Organic synthetic medicinal chemistry
3. Peptide chemistry
4. Computational chemistry and drug discovery

Due to the extensive expertise among the members of the section, they attract postgraduate students for research supervision from the East and Central African region and West Africa.
