BASF East Africa Open day, Friday 29th November 2019 organized by the Department of Chemistry

BASF Open Day, 29th Nov 2019, Organized by the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi.

The Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi in conjunction with BASF East Africa Organized BASF Open Day held on 29th Nov. 2019 at the University of Nairobi Towers, 4th floor.

The event was attended by Prof. Bernard Aduda, Principal, College of Biological & Physical Sciences, who was there in Vice chancellor's capacity, Dr. Michael Gotsche, BASF Africa Vice President & M.D East Africa with his Team, The host, Prof. John Onyari, Chairman, Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Department Staff and Students.

 

In the Vice Chancellors speech, he acknowledge what the company is doing at the University of Nairobi for example the recent training where 32 Undergraduate Chemistry students trained by BASF Team on soft skills and now the Open Day. He reiterated how important this event to the students and welcome the company to collaborate with the University. The Principal, concur with the VC in his remarks citing the high number of very needy students  in the college hence over stretching the budget allocated for the needy students.

 

The Vice President in his opening remarks, shared what the company is doing in Africa in the following areas;

  • Agriculture
  • Construction
  • Home & Personal Care
  • Food Ingredients
  • Performance Plastics
  • Coil Coatings

He also communicated  that BASF Africa is going to support five (5) needy students from next year and that the structure on how this will be offered is yet to be implemented.
