University of Nairobi Industrial Chemistry Association(UNICSA) is a student body that was established in 2007 mandated to harness full potential of members through involvement and engagement in activities that enhance academic excellence and quality of life by organizing frequent fora, exchange programs and community outreach programmes aimed at equipping members with diverse knowledge in all aspects of life guided by the motto ”creativity is the crest of science”. Currently, it has a membership of 100 students excluding alumni and the constitution allows co-opting interested parties.
This is to invite you for MSC proposal presentation seminar to be held on Friday 19th 2021 from 2pm. The programme is divided into four(4) sessions, Session one starts on 19th Nov. 2021, Session two on 26th November, session three on 3rd Dec 2021 and session four on Dec. 10th 2021.
The International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week of Action (ILPPWA) takes place annually in the last week of October since 2013. This year, the University of Nairobi through the Department of Chemistry had a privilege and honor to host the event which was done both physically and virtually on the 29th October 2021. Kenya joined the global community in marking the 9th ILPPWA between 24th and 30th October, 2021. The activities served as a platform to enhance efforts to eliminate lead in paint.
Sarah Benki-Nugent from the University of Washington paid a courtesy call to the Chairman, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Nairobi. This was during her Visit to the Atmospheric Deposition Network Laboratory where one of our MSc student Mr. Vincent Kipter who is undertaking a project titled “Assessment of Air Pollution and Health Effects in Densely Populated Communities in Nairobi County, Kenya” under the Supervision of Dr. Faridah Hussein Were.
The Department of Chemistry in collaboartion with Vision Scientific, Magritek and NRF Kenya are organising a virtual workshop on INTRODUCING THE KENYA NATIONAL NMR CENTER . The details of the workshop are:

The National Research Fund (NRF) Board of Trustees represented by Dr. J.P.R. Ochieng-Odero, Prof. Oyawa, Vainadu Ingana and Dr Salome Guchu held a Stakeholder’s Meeting on 8th June 2021 with the Management of the University of Nairobi, to discuss the progress on the implementation of infrastructure project grant to establish the Kenya National Resonance Nuclear Center (KNMRC) at the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi.
