ABC 2ND STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOP: "CLEAN AIR & MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH IN KENYA"

Following the successful 1st stakeholders engagement workshop: " Kenya Healthy Brain Project: Maternal, Child Environmental Health Research, Practice and Policy" that took place at Gracia Hotel in August 2019,  Kilimani, Nairobi, the University of Washington in collaboration with the University of Nairobi organized its 2nd stakeholders Engagement workshop on 21st September 2022 at Gracia Gardens in Kilimani. The Theme of the workshop was "Clean Air and Maternal Child Health in Kenya."

HACO INDUSTRY PARTNERS WITH UON, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY TO OFFER INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

The University of Nairobi, Department of Chemistry has signed an MOU with HACO industry that will see students from the Department gets industrial training.

 

Speaking during the ceremony, Haco industry Managing Director, Mr Peter Ndichu, stated that the first-of-its kind MOU will offer students with job exposure to complement the knowledge they get in class with a practical experience in the industry. "The students will be attached to various department at Haco for a period of between three months & six months to make them all round in the job market.

 

3rd International Chemistry Inorganic Conference from 29-30th September 2022.

The Department of Chemistry will be hosting the virtual 3rd International Inorganic Chemistry Conference from 29-30th September 2022. Details are available in the Conference flyer herein attached. We welcome abstracts in any of the thematic areas. Deadline for submission is 31st August 2022.

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR HANDS-ON NMR TRAINING WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 4th-7th , 2022

The Kenya National NMR Center based at the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi, Kenya is hosting a hands-on NMR training workshop.

This workshop is sponsored by the Royal society of Chemistry,Pan African Chemistry Network and is aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Kenyan  Scientist in Nuclear Mangentic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopic Techniques.

Kenya National Magnetic Resonance Center Workshop

The Kenya National NMR Centre (KNMRC) based at the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi, Kenya hosted its second training workshop on 24th-27th May 2022.

The workshop was sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry/Pan African Chemistry Network and its aim is to enhance the capabilities of Kenyan scientists in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) techniques.

ENGLISH/KISWAHILI PERIODIC TABLE PUBLISHED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry has published an English/Kiswahili periodic table of elements au Mfumo Radidia wa elementi. This periodic  was published at the time when the Department in collaboration with International Science Program (ISP), Sweden through KEN01  commemorates the IUPAC Global Women and Girls in Science and International Year Of Basic Sciences For Sustainable Development (IYBSSD22).

OPEN DAY 2022

Open day is an opportunity for prospective students and guardians to interact with the University staff, learn more about the programmes offered from each faculty and their career paths. 

 

There are webinars organized for the two days by all the faculties.  

 

The Open Day 2022 will be a blended event. The Opening Ceremony will be held tomorrow,  virtually, Thursday, May 5 2022 from 10:00 am

The Department of Chemistry Participates in the Nairobi Innovation Week April 26 - 28, 2022

The Department of Chemistry, under the sponsorship of RSC PACN, participated in the just concluded Nairobi Innovation Week for the year 2022. It was represented by Dr. Joseph Mwaniki (who presented his innovations on Robotics and Automation of Laboratory Experiments), Dr. Peterson Guto (who presented his innovation of an Electrochemical Sensor for Heavy Metals), and the Essential Oils and Detergents production units (EOPU & DPU) which showcased products from the department.

Nairobi Innovation Week April 26th-28th 2022

The University of Nairobi in collaboration with a large number of partners & stakeholders convene every year to organize and execute the NIW event.

The objective of the NIW is to contribute towards a vibrant, productive & sustainable innovation ecosystem through policy influence, showcasing innovation, research dissemination, networking, capacity building, connecting start-ups & innovators to industry focusing on the government Big-four agenda that is Manufacturing, Food security, Affordable Housing, Health & other cross cutting innovations.
