The Department of Chemistry through KEN-01 project organized training on public speaking from Wednesday October 4 2023 to Friday October 6 2023 for selected students who recently graduated from the Department. This training need was identified during the breakfast meeting held in May 17 2023 for female students organized by the Inorganic Research Group(KEN01) project.This training was sponsored by Denis Foundation and KEN-01 project.

The Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi, through Kenya National Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Center (KNMRC) organized & hosted  the Third (3rd)  Regional Hands-on NMR Training Workshop which was officially opened by the CEO, NRF, Professor Dickson Andala on 31st  July 2023. KNMRC was established as a national NMR center through a grant from the National Research Fund (NRF), Kenya to provide Nuclear Magnetic Resonance analytical services that include capacity building to scientists, not only in the country but also in the region.

Dr. Joyce Kithure who is a Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi Donated five copies of her Book Titled Statistics for Chemists: questions & answers.

The Department of Chemistry organized a partnership meeting with HACO Industry which was  held on 13th June 2023 at the Faculty of Science Boardroom to discuss the work plan after the two institutions signed a Cooperation Agreement last year. The partnership established with HACO Industry ltd is aimed at enhancing the capacity of the two institutions to fulfill their respective mission & objectives through academic & industrial engagements & linkages..

This is to invite you for a National Research Fund- Infrastructure Research Grant Commissioning of The Kenya National Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Centre (KNMRC) Infrastructure Project that will take place on Friday 16th June 2023 at the University of Nairobi, Chiromo campus, School of Physical Science Board Room. The Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi in collaboration with the International Science Program (ISP) Sweden, through KEN01 project, organized a breakfast meeting to celebrate the IUPAC Global Women and Girls in Science on 17th May 2023 at Arziki conference cente, Chiromo Campus, University of Nairobi.

On March 31, 2023, the Department of Chemistry held a mentorship seminar for final year students on 'Preparedness for the Job Market'. They were taken through CV and cover letter writing, smart preparation for an interview, as well as interpersonal relationships. The event was held at Millenium Hall 1 and was attended by well over 100 final-year students. It was facilitated by Mr. Brian Maghanga, Export Sales Manager, Zena Energy, Ms. Margaret Wacera, HR Manager, Naturesurf Systems Ltd, and Ms. Lucy Kamau, Assistant Dean of Students, FST-UoN.
