UON PRIZE GIVING 2020/21

The University of Nairobi wishes to invite Prize Recipients and Donors to the Prize Presentation Ceremony for the 2017/2018 & 2018/2019 academic years that will be held on Friday, 7th May 2021 in Taifa Hall. This will be a Virtual Ceremony. Our esteemed donors are invited to present the prizes and trophies during the ceremony. Oil Organic Essential Oil Produced by the Department of Chemistry


The Department of Chemistry  wishes to announce that they  are  now producing organic Eucalyptus  globulus oil which  is  an effective therapy for respiratory infections including Covid19. Eucalyptus oil is also very helpful in providing relief for headaches , fevers , migraines, asthma, sinusitis, arthritis and ailments of the respiratory tract.

The product has been granted  KEBS approval as an organic essential oil.

The Product can be bought at the department of Chemistry, College of Biological and Physical Sciences, Chiromo.

Prof. Catherine Ngila Visiting Professor Department of Chemistry: Prof. Catherine Ngila the Ag, Executive Director, African Academy of Sciences

Prof Ngila has taught various courses; First Year General Chemistry to Masters’ in Chemistry in Analytical-, Environmental- and Industrial Chemistry in various Universities. Current research on nanotechnology for water purification; and mass balance modelling in wastewater treatment plants. She is focusing on validation of analytical techniques, water quality.
Prof Ngila has trained over 100 Postgraduates including 22 Honours, 33 MSc and 30 PhD students including training of 18 Postdoctoral Fellows). Currently, she has a current research group of about 3 doctoral and 2 masters students registered at University of Johannesburg in Chemical Sciences.
She has disseminated her research findings in international conferences in more than 30 countries.

WAAW Foundation 2020/2021 Scholarship opens

Hello.

Application for the WAAW Foundation 2020/2021 Scholarship opens September 2, 2020 and close November 2, 2020. The 2020/2021 scholarship offers $500 for need-based undergraduate female African students admitted to a University, College or institute of higher learning in Africa. WAAW Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Programme aims to support African Females Students studying any Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related course at the university.

Subject areas include: Agriculture, Engineering courses, Architecture, Biochemistry, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Construction Technology, Food Science Technology, Genetics, Geography, Geology, Home Science Nutrition and Dietetics, Industrial Chemistry, Math related fields, Natural Science, Pharmacy, Physics, Science related fields, Statistics, Technology, Zoology

Criteria for eligibility include:

  1. Female students of African origin, living and studying in Africa.
  2. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate B.S.degree program.
  3. Studying STEM-related courses in a University or college in Africa.
  4. Demonstrable financial need
  5. Excellent Academic Record.
  6. Proven leadership, volunteering and community service
  7. Below the age of 32 years.
  8. Only students in their first and second year are eligible to apply. And also students in their third year if studying a five-year course.
